In Minnesota, Encore Unlimited, LLC is a registered Rehabilitation Provider, and provides statutory rehabilitation services which comply with all mandated rules and statutes.
When specific criteria are met, a Registered Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC) is referred by the employer/insurer or chosen by the injured worker and will
determine if the injured worker is eligible for rehabilitation services. If an injured worker is found eligible, QRCs are an objective party who are responsible to
develop and implement a rehabilitation plan with the goal of returning the injured worker to suitable gainful employment. Examples of rehabilitation services
may include: medical management, on site job analysis, job development/placement and vocational testing.
If an insurer has been granted a waiver for vocational rehabilitation services or if the injured worker is not qualified for statutory rehabilitation services,
their employer or insurer may assign a disability case manager (DCM) to work with the injured worker instead of a QRC.
The employer or insurer might ask the DCM to communicate with the injured worker, their health care provider(s), their
employer and the insurer to help them successfully return to work and/or to coordinate medical treatment.
A DCM is not a rehabilitation provider, as defined by the MN Department of Labor and Industry, and is not necessarily bound by all of the statutes and
rules pertaining to QRCs. A DCM can be a helpful resource in coordinating medical treatment or assisting the injured worker return to work.
A person who worked with the injured worker as a DCM may not be their QRC. (Definition retrieved from DOLI website Dec. 31, 2013)
